Notice: Weekend closure of West Transitway between Tunney’s Pasture & Westboro Station
This notice is to advise that, as part of the O-Train Confederation Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project, the Transitway between Tunney’s Pasture and Westboro Transit Station will be closed for one weekend to help facilitate the realignment of the West Transitway into a new bus loop and terminus at Tunney’s Pasture Station.
WHAT: For one weekend only, all buses will be diverted from the Transitway between Tunney’s Pasture and Westboro transit station onto Scott Street.
WHEN: Starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 24, until 3 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016.
WHY: To help facilitate the construction of a new bus loop that is being built at Tunney’s Pasture as part of the West Transitway closure/detour, which takes effect on Monday, June 27, 2016. All buses traveling along the West Transitway will serve a new bus loop on the upper level of Tunney’s Pasture Station, located immediately west of the existing station. Buses will be detoured along Scott Street east of Tunney’s Pasture Station until the planned opening of the Confederation Line in 2018.
- During this weekend detour, Transitway bus routes will travel along Scott Street, between Westboro and Tunney’s Pasture Stations. Temporary bus stops will be provided on the upper level at Westboro Station and on Scott Street at Tunney’s Pasture Station. Up to 30 buses an hour per direction will use the Scott Street corridor instead of the Transitway during this weekend.
- Only minor delays to traffic and transit are anticipated due to the reduced traffic volumes over the weekend period.
