As part of the Albert Street reconstruction project, three intersecting streets along Albert Street will be rehabilitated: Lorne Avenue, Perkins Street, and Empress Avenue. All underground sewer, sanitary and water infrastructure will be replaced on these three streets, including the pipes connecting to properties along the streets. The streets will also be fully reconstructed, including new curbs and sidewalks.
WHEN: Starting in April 2016, and continuing until late fall of 2016. Further information will be provided closer to the start of construction.
WHY: Underground City infrastructure along those streets is more than a century old, and requires replacement.
• Vehicular access to the streets will remain throughout the construction period.
• Access to driveways may not always be available. When this happens, special on-street parking permits will be provided to residents.
• Pedestrian access to the streets will remain throughout the construction period through the use of temporary granular walkways.
