March continues to be a busy month as we continue various testing and commissioning activities across the alignment. All stations are undergoing final touch-ups after inspections as part of issuing occupancy permits. We’ll continue providing construction updates in our weekly newsletter with a focus on progressing finishing works. Questions about the project? Please feel free to reach out via email at [email protected].
Activities Across the Alignment – Construction Update
Final, pre-inspection touch-ups continue at Tunney’s Pasture, Bayview and Pimisi Stations. Stations along the eastern alignment, including Lees, Hurdman, Tremblay, St-Laurent, Cyrville and Blair Station, are undergoing final architectural finishes. Downtown at Parliament Station, the public art ceiling is substantially complete. Rideau Station continues to undergo final touch-ups, including painting, and ongoing electrical work.
In the coming weeks, end-to-end train testing will continue and more coupled trains will be seen on the move. Stations systems’ testing is ongoing, and includes the testing of various passenger information/address systems. SCADA testing (the monitoring and control systems for transit operations) is underway. As part of getting ready for service, informational decals and stickers are being affixed to the trains. OC Transpo’s Electric Rail Operator training also continues.
Additional winter equipment for snow clearing has been added to the maintenance fleet. Crews will be testing this equipment to ensure that general winter procedures, snow clearing capabilities, and switch heater performance are performing as required in Ottawa winters. Additional resources are being added to ensure the system will operate smoothly during severe winter weather.
