Construction Update

This week, more vehicles were tested on the guideway. Station features such as pedestrian plazas, benches and entrance lanterns have been installed at the western stations. Landscaping works as well as testing and commissioning continue to occur across the alignment. At the downtown stations, architectural finishes continue to progress.

West Stations

Tunney’s Pasture Station
Landscaping activities continue along Scott Street. Miscellaneous mechanical and electrical items continue to be commissioned. Work is progressing on the bus operator building, maintenance building and bus supervisor building.

Bayview Station
Crews work to finish the south and east entrances. Miscellaneous mechanical and electrical items continue to be commissioned.

Pimisi Station
Crews work to finish the elevator shrouds, tactile wayfinding strips and remaining flashing. Mechanical and electrical finishes are ongoing.

Central Stations

Lyon Station
Testing and commissioning activities of the fans in the in the Tunnel Vent Shafts are ongoing. Remaining light fixtures, electrical door hardware and free-standing signs are installed. Final touch-ups continue.

Parliament Station 
Installation of wayfinding signs at the concourse and platform concludes. The ceiling panels continue to be installed. Glass installations for the elevators, escalators and stairs is ongoing. The art inter-track barrier is installed.
Parliament Station – west entrance
Exterior roof works are ongoing. Tiling and handrail installations continue.

Parliament Station – east entrance
Installation of the stairway glazing is underway at the concourse as are the handrails, wall and floor tiles.

Rideau Station 
Wayfinding signs are installed throughout the concourse and platform areas. Floor tiling continues, and inter-car barriers will be installed.

Rideau Station – west entrance
Utility cabinets are installed at the concourse and stair handrails are put in. Window frames and ceiling panels are put in, while other final finishes take place.

Rideau Station – east entrance 
Installation of the head house lantern is underway. Stair handrails, final elevator glass, and digital signbands are installed. Tiling and the installation of escalator panels continues.

uOttawa Station
Miscellaneous finishing works are underway as testing and commissioning activities continue.

East Stations

Stations along the eastern alignment, including Lees, Hurdman, Tremblay, St-Laurent, Cyrville and Blair Station, are undergoing miscellaneous finishing work as testing and commissioning activities continue.

Guideway and Testing

This week the trains ran a full loop test from Tunney’s Pasture to Blair Station. Guideway intrusion detection system commissioning is underway. Trains are running in Automatic Train Operation (ATO) mode across the entire alignment. Vehicles continue to be tested at line speed (50km/hr) while some end-to-end runs are conducted at line speed.

Upcoming Construction Activities

In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:

  • Reinstatement of East Portal construction site including the southern section of Waller Street
  • Integrated entrance completion at Lyon, Parliament, and Rideau Stations
  • Installation of public art at Tremblay and Hurdman Stations
  • Architectural finishes and landscaping works at the western stations
