The frequency, speed and number of coupled trains being tested along the alignment continues to increase. Communication devices are undergoing installation and testing across the entire alignment. Wood ceilings and station signage are put in at the western and central stations. Architectural works wrap-up in the east while testing and commissioning progresses.
Tunney’s Pasture Station
The wood ceiling installation nears completion. Once the wood ceiling is finished, crews will move on to finishing mechanical and electrical works. Landscaping around the station continues.
Crews work to complete escalator cladding, and remaining signage. Systems are being brought online including the Public Address (PA) system.
Crews are working on clearing the area under the Booth Street bridge and finishing landscaping at the lower concourse.
The fare gates are undergoing testing while finishing touches are applied to elevator signage, electrical door systems, and escalator cladding. Light fixtures and water fountains are put in.
Testing and commissioning of fare gates is underway while architectural works continue. Lighting, digital signbands, benches, elevator cladding, hand rails and floor tiles are in various stages of installation on the platform.
Parliament Station – west entrance
Installation of the wood ceiling panels is completed this week. Tiling of the vestibule doors and stairways is planned while hand rails are installed. Aluminum roof panels are scheduled to be installed next week.
Parliament Station – east entrance
Ongoing works include floor tiling and the installation of stair handrails and wood ceiling panels.
At the platform, wall panel installations continue. Digital signband covers are installed and floor tiles are put in.
Rideau Station – west entrance
The concourse ceiling grid has been completed. Other concourse works include the art wall glazing, painting, and wall and ceiling tiling. Stair and escalator cladding continues to be installed, as handrails are put in. Crews prepare to install the fare gates.
Rideau Station – east entrance
The wood ceiling at the street-level entrance is nearing compeltion. Framing for the signage begins and handrails are installed. At the concourse, the art wall glazing occurs, and tiling for the floors, walls, and ceiling advances.
Fitting for the elevator shroud and back-lit lanterns finishes. Crews will be installing any remaining signage and pavers on connecting pathways. Other finishing works are ongoing as testing and commissioning activities continue.
Stations along the eastern alignment, including Lees, Hurdman, Tremblay, St-Laurent, Cyrville and Blair Station, are undergoing miscellaneous finishing work as testing and commissioning activities continue.
Guideway and Testing
Trains are tested at increased speeds and frequencies along the entire alignment. The number of coupled trains is increasing on the track. In the east, trains are moving in Automatic Train Operation (ATO) mode between Blair and uOttawa Stations. Train assembly continues.
Upcoming Construction Activities
In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:
- Reinstatement of East Portal construction site including the southern section of Waller Street
- Integrated entrance completion at Lyon, Parliament, and Rideau Stations
- Installation of public art at Tremblay and Hurdman Stations
- Architectural finishes and landscaping works at the western stations
