This week on the Confederation Line, LRV testing advances in the east with trains being tested at increased speeds and frequencies. Architectural works progress at the downtown stations with ongoing tiling, painting, and light fixture installations. Station signage installation and landscaping occur throughout the entire alignment.
Tunney’s Pasture Station
Crews are installing doors and hardware at the service rooms. De-icing cables for the roof and gutter will be installed in both east and westbound canopies. Landscaping work including grading and compaction is planned.
Glazing continues while final commissioning works for elevators and escalators is ongoing. Snow melting cables and warning tiles will be added to the newly (extended) platform.
Glazing and wood ceiling installations near completion. Fare gate installation is anticipated with crews completing doors and hardware for service rooms in platform and concourse areas. Landscaping continues.
This week, hand rails are installed while utility cabinets are finalized. The installation of light fixtures, the fire alarm system and ceiling panels continues with work on elevators progressing
Wayfinding signage is installed throughout the entire station and the HVAC rough-ins conclude this week. At the platform, tiling, ceiling installations and the installation of utility cabinet equipment progresses. The concourse Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) is installed as painting begins.
Hydrovacing will occur intermittently during daytime hours over the summer months to clean surface areas and underground lines in the tunnel.
Parliament Station west entrance
The installation of utility cabinets is anticipated to begin this week. Wall tiling, painting, as well as the installation of doors, signage and ceilings is ongoing throughout the station.
Parliament Station east entrance
Ongoing architectural works include the installation of the grade-level ceiling panels, tiling for the concourse walls and stairs, as well as the installation of ceiling grids.
The HVAC system is installed and heat tracing installations take place. Bike railings, ceiling grids and panels are put up throughout the station.

Rideau Station west entrance
Stair/bike railings, floor tiling and utility cabinet installations are happening this week with the security system scheduled for next week.
Rideau Station east entrance
The utility cabinets are anticipated to go in this week and glazing panel installation begins. Ongoing activities include painting, elevator installations and floor tiling. Next week, the fire alarm system will be installed.
The remaining full height glazing panels and wood ceiling installations are underway. Elevators are being finalized and snow breakers are soon to be installed in the roofing system.
Tactile wayfinding strips on both east and westbound platforms will be installed this week. Bus shelters and transit information panels are scheduled to go in soon.
Bus loop works including area grading and compaction are anticipated in the coming weeks. Remaining mechanical and electrical fixtures are being installed. The public art installation and inspection is anticipated.
The station elevators and utility cabinets are being finalized, while finishing touches for elevator cladding underway. Landscaping is nearing completion; concrete benches will be added.
All remaining commissioning activities for the elevators and escalators are underway. Construction of emergency stairs up to grade level is expected in the coming weeks.
Completion of the entrance lantern is anticipated, along with other miscellaneous works.

Guideway and Testing
The entire Confederation Line guideway is now electrified. I In the east, the frequency and speed of Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) testing has increased; trains are now moving in Automatic Train Operation (ATO) mode between Blair and uOttawa Stations. Trains are now crossing between east and westbound tracks. Assembly of LRV34 progresses.
Upcoming Construction Activities
The following construction activities are scheduled over the coming weeks:
- Rideau East work-zones to be removed or reduced in phases throughout the summer.
- Digital signband, light-band, fare gates and entrance lantern installation in western stations.
- Opening of stairs at the S-MUP (multi-use pathway) at uOttawa Station.
- Integrated entrance completion at Lyon, Parliament, and Rideau Stations.
