Construction Update

Elevators are being installed across the central and western segments of the alignment, landscaping continues throughout all segments, and station signage is being installed in the eastern segments. Train testing and commissioning continues, as does the assembly of the remaining six vehicles.

Construction advances at Pimisi Station

West Stations

Tunney’s Pasture Station 
Topping slabs for the concourse and the eastbound and westbound platforms continue. End of platform glazing is scheduled. In the bus loop, the new bus operator building, bus supervisor office, and maintenance building are under construction.

Bayview Station 
Composite panels are being installed on the north and south roof. Crews are also scheduled to work on the tiling in the elevator cabs, light fixtures and the installation of tall glass panels.

Pimisi Station
​Crews are installing glass and utility cabinets. Landscaping is continuing and digital signband installations are underway. Topping slabs are complete on the platform.

Central Stations

Lyon Station 
Station features such as the fire alarm and door security systems, fare gates, and light fixtures continue to be installed and tested. The concourse progresses with ceiling panel installations, and elsewhere the elevators continue to be worked on and stair railings are installed.

Parliament Station 
At the concourse, floor tiling, concrete works, and rough-ins for the HVAC system continue. New activities this week include glazing on the stairs and bracing installations for the ceilings. The platform advances as well with utility cabinets, ceiling grids, and tiles being installed.
Hydrovacing will occur intermittently during daytime hours over the summer months to clean surface areas and underground lines in the tunnel.

Parliament Station west entrance
The roofing system continues to be installed this week. The installation of wood ceiling panels progresses at the ground level entry. At the concourse level, stair hand railings and floor tiles are put in. Ceiling installation is anticipated for next week. Work concludes at the west tunnel ventilation shaft (TVS) with the grate installation. The site will then be turned over to the streetscaping team.

The sprinkler system continues to be installed and tested. Tiling occurs at the stairways. At the concourse level, concrete works, ceiling framing, as well as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works take place.

Rideau Station 
This week, platform ceiling insulation, masonry, and the ceiling grid were installed. There’s ongoing work to commission escalators and to install equipment inside the elevator control room. Preparation for wall-mounted public art will begin.

Rideau Station west entrance
The concourse entry progresses with mechanical and electrical works, and tiling on the floors and walls. Escalator installation and commissioning are ongoing, as are ceiling installations and concrete works. At the west TVS, site clean-up is ongoing.

Rideau Station east entrance 
Exterior glass panels and wall siding are going in. At the stair landings, railing and ceiling installations are wrapping up, and crews are working on installing the station’s public art tiles.

uOttawa Station
Work related to fare gates, utility cabinets, and entrance lantern installations are underway. Tactile wayfinding indicator strips are going in. Work to install custom windscreen panels at the concourse and platform is anticipated.

Glass installation progresses at Lees Station

East Stations

Lees Station
Glass panel installation is underway. Elevator shroud installation is scheduled to continue, and utility cabinet mechanical installations are also ongoing.

Hurdman Station
The wood ceiling installation progresses. Other work focuses on the utility cabinets and the entrance lantern, and landscaping activities continue.

Tremblay Station
Work is ongoing on utility cabinets at the platform area. South elevator cladding is scheduled, while progress is made on occupancy signage. Bus shelter installations are also anticipated.

St-Laurent Station
Tactile wayfinding indicator strips are being finalized, while other static signage is installed throughout the station. Metal and concrete benches are being installed.

Cyrville Station
Fare gates are installed and being prepared for service. Lighting-related mechanical and electrical finishes in the roof remain to be completed. At the platform, crews will also work on finalizing the digital signband. Bicycle parking is now installed

Blair Station
Utility cabinets and end-of-platform doors are being finished. Fare gate equipment and fare gate glazing panel installation continues. Back-lit entrance lantern installations are underway. Permanent signage is being installed throughout the station.

East and westbound guideway at St. Laurent Station

Guideway and Trackwork

Testing and commissioning (T&C) activities​ have begun in the western segment, this means that the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) will be electrified as regular train testing takes place. Over in the east, regular train testing including CBTC maturity tests continue. ​Assembly of LRV34 progresses.

Upcoming Construction Activities

In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:

  • Select Rideau work-zones to be reduced in phases throughout the summer and fall.
  • Completion of stairs at the S-MUP (multi-use pathway) at uOttawa Station.
  • Skylight glazing installation at Tunney’s Pasture Station.
  • Rideau Station west TVS grate installation.
