This week on the Confederation Line, crews have been busy installing the O-Train Trillium Line track extension at Bayview Station, installing wood ceilings in the east stations, and putting in the fare vending and fare-gate equipment at various stations. Additionally, landscaping and public art installations are ongoing throughout the entire alignment.
Tunney’s Pasture Station
Concrete topping slabs for the concourse and the eastbound and westbound platforms continue. At the bus loop, the new bus operator building, bus supervisor office, and maintenance building are under construction. Work on the bus loop roadway is also scheduled to take place.
The current activities at Bayview Station include work on the east platform topping slabs, de-icing cables for the roof and gutter, and the O-Train Trillium Line track extension. Crews will also be continuing landscaping work and construction of the east side entrance.
Platform weatherproofing and waterproofing continues. Installation of composite panels in the lower concourse is expected to conclude in the coming weeks. Landscaping activities continue this month, alongside construction of the Booth Street Bridge bike lanes.
Ceiling panels at the platform and concourse levels continue to be installed, along with wood ceiling panel installations at the entrances. Work on the elevators advances, tiling occurs, and intumescent painting wraps up at the west entrance. Additionally, light fixtures and the fire alarm system continues to be installed.
Visible progress is made with intumescent painting, tiling, light fixture installations and concrete works. Moreover, the escalator and elevator work continues.
Parliament Station west entrance
At the grade level entrance, tiling and wood ceiling installations occur. At the concourse level, conduit installations and floor tiling takes place. Next week, grouting and tiling will occur for the stair walls. At the west tunnel ventilation system (TVS), concrete pours to complete the third wall section are underway. One final wall section of work remains.
Parliament Station east entrance
Work on the roof continues this week. At the grade level entrance, sprinkler system installations occur, while at the concourse level remaining concrete works occur alongside mechanical and electrical installations.
At the east TVS, hydrovacing from surface will occur intermittently during daytime hours over the summer months to clean surface areas and underground lines in the tunnel.
At the east concourse, mechanical and electrical installations advance and the site is measured for aluminum panels. At the platform level, wall masonry and concrete works are ongoing. Elevator and escalator installations progress as well.

Rideau Station west entrance
Construction of the stair enclosure takes place this week, and tile installation begins. At the west TVS, the final concrete pour takes place and crews begin final grading before watermain reinstatement work next week.
Rideau Station east entrance
Elevators are being installed, while glass panels and siding goes up at the head house. Escalators continue to be installed and commissioned at each of the entrance’s landings. Wall tiling and painting continues and the escalator control room is readied. Additionally, mechanical and electrical work is ongoing.
Glass panel installation along the Nicholas Street side of the station continues this week. In addition, the fare-gates, utility cabinets, and entrance lanterns are being installed. Crews will also be completing the gutter and plumbing system for the north and south roofs.
Work continues on main entrance flooring. The hydro connection across Lees Avenue for the multi-use pathway (MUP) lighting has begun. The nearby MUP towards Rideau River Bridge has been graded and paved.
Nearly all of the tall glass panels have now been installed. Glass and handrails at the stairs have been installed. The wood ceiling is going up at the platform, and the fare vending machines are in place at the entrance.
Fare-gate installation continues this month and utility cabinets will also be going in. Handrail installation and work to install furnishings such as benches and floor grills are also scheduled.
The fare-gates and entrance lanterns are in place. Utility cabinets are being finalized. Elevator waterproofing work is complete.
The wood ceiling, and platform digital signband installations are ongoing. Furnishings such as bike shelters and metal benches will also be going in.
Utility cabinets and platform doors are being finished, and wayfinding signage installations are also ongoing. Fare-gate equipment and fare-gate glazing will be installed. Entrance lantern installations will also get underway.
Guideway and Trackwork
Regular train-testing occurs between Blair and uOttawa Stations and OLRTC is looking ahead to the extension of regular train-testing through to Segment 1, encompassing the three Western stations, in the near future.. Assembly of LRV34 continues.
Upcoming Construction Activities
In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:
- Some Rideau work-zones to be removed in phases throughout the summer.
- Opening of entrance plaza stairs at the S-MUP at uOttawa Station.
- Addition of bike lanes on the Booth Street Bridge.
- Windscreen glass installation at Tunney’s Pasture Station.
- Skylight glazing installation at Tunney’s Pasture Station.
- Rideau Station west TVS grate installation.
- Parliament Station west TVS grate installation.
