At uOttawa Station crews work on the composite metal panel framing and the precast-concrete stairs for all four stairways. In the tunnel, the elevator cars are assembled at Lyon Station. Crews at Bayview Station make progress on the porcelain panels for the stairways and the mechanical and electrical installations.
Tunney’s Pasture Station
Crews are expected to have all the steel work done by the end the month. The ceiling framing at the platform is ongoing, while inside the bus loop, construction of the bus operator, maintenance and supervisor buildings have begun.
Current works focus on the porcelain panels for the stairways and the mechanical and electrical installations. Framing of the ceiling continues in the lower concourse area. In the coming weeks, the station is expected to have permanent power.
Pimisi StationThe crews are installing steel on the lower concourse and continuing the wood ceiling framing. Crews are also installing power conduits for the signband. Soffits will be installed on the upper west concourse and the north canopy.
This week, intumescent painting occurs and concourse columns and west entrance floor tiling is underway. Platform walkways are formed and poured, and mechanical and electrical work throughout the station is ongoing. Work on the elevators advances with final glass installation and elevator car assembly.
This week inside the station, crews continue to work on the stairways. In addition, plumbing work advances and the first stage of mechanical, electrical and ceiling rough-ins continue.
Parliament Station west entrance
Work continues on the roof slab with rebar installation and concrete pours occurring this week. Waterproofing and backfilling also takes place at the west entrance.
Parliament Station east entrance
Escalator assembly and conduit installation continues at the east entrance.
At the concourse level, concrete formwork and stripping continues for the concourse slabs. At the headwall, rebar for the upper half of the wall is installed and so is formwork for the west entrance. At the transition, the finishing layer of shotcrete progresses.
Rideau Station west entrance
Removal of the tunnel arch formwork is still in progress and formwork bracing for the west entrance headwall is advancing.
Rideau Station east entrance
Architectural work progresses and includes tiling preparation, work on the ceilings, ongoing mechanical and electrical work for service rooms and sprinkler line installations. In addition, adit arch waterproofing concludes.
Ongoing activities include waterproofing the arch and completing the duct bank walls. Duct bank completion involves conduit installation and concrete backfilling.
Crews work on the composite metal panel framing and the precast concrete steps for all four stairways. Other scheduled works include installation of the fire alarm system. Wood framing is expected to begin towards the end of January.
Crews will work to complete the ceiling framing.
Weather permitting, crews will continue to install handrail posts and to complete installation of the elevators.
Current work focuses on framing for the wood ceiling at the upper concourse level and preparations for glazing.
In the plenum area, insulated metal panels are being installed. Crews are also working on the fire proofing elements, sprinklers and pipe-fitting. Electrical rough-ins continue throughout the station.
The current work focuses on ceiling framing, completion of the architectural envelope for the elevator, and installation of mullions.
Currently scheduled works include installation of the signband, and finishing the stainless steel elevator architectural panels. Testing and commissioning of mechanical and electrical equipment is ongoing.
Guideway and Trackwork
Crews are focused on completing tracks through Parliament Station, up to Rideau Station, and at the East Portal. In the West, activities include rail installation at Tunney’s Pasture. Train testing continues on the eastern stretch of the alignment.
Upcoming Construction Activities
In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:
- Wood ceiling installations scheduled to start at eastern stations.
- Installation of signband and entrance lanterns at eastern stations.
- Installation of scaffolding at uOttawa Station (nighttime work).
- Concrete pours to complete the headwall at Rideau Station west entrance
- Glazing work at Pimisi Station and Bayview Station.
- Construction of the bus operator, maintenance and supervisor buildings at Tunney’s Pasture.
