Construction Update

At Parliament Station west entrance, the south wall advances with crews installing rebar and formwork, while at Rideau Station, the east adit is making steady progress, including concourse slab waterproofing and rebar installation. In the west, at Bayview Station, the current work focuses on framing the ceiling in the lower concourse area and porcelain panel installation in the upper and lower auxillary buildings.

West Stations

Tunney’s Pasture Station 
Crews are forming and pouring the curbs, waterproofing the roof deck, and installing windscreen posts. Mechanical and electrical work at the platform level is ongoing. Down below, crews are installing sections of inter-track barrier and plinths for the track.

Bayview Station 
Crews are framing the ceiling in the lower concourse area and putting up porcelain panels in the upper and lower auxillary buildings. They are working on the signband conduit, the plaftorm level ceiling rough-ins, and the skylight framing. Elevator and escalator installations are ongoing.

Pimisi Station
Stairway posts and the mullions for the glass walls are being completed. Crews are also installing power conduits for the signband. At the platform level, crews have started framing soffits at the platform level and will be performing that same work at the upper west concourse and the north canopy in coming weeks. Other work focuses on the framing of the porcelain panels.

Central Stations

Lyon Station 
This week, testing and commissioning for the escalator control rooms takes place. Plumbing, masonry, fire protection and electrical work are all ongoing. Architectural works advance and involve glazing, wall and ceiling panel installation, and tiling.

Streetscaping continues on the south side of Queen between Bay and Lyon streets and begins on the south side of Queen between Lyon and Kent streets.

Parliament Station 
Escalator delivery continues this week at the station. Stairway construction is advancing as well, which now includes wall tiling. The first stage of mezzanine rough-ins progresses and the mechanical duct work continues to be delivered and installed.

Parliament Station west entrance
Below ground, the south wall advances with crews installing rebar and formwork. Rebar and dowels are installed for the stairs and escalator assembly continues at the integrated entrance.

Parliament Station east entrance 
At the integrated entrance, the concrete structure advances with beam rebar, formwork, concrete pours and stripping. Escalators continue to be installed, crews work on the watermain connection and final backfilling occurs. Upcoming work involves steel fire proofing.

Ongoing construction of the concourse at Rideau Station

Rideau Station 
At the concourse level, rebar, plumbing and conduit installation progress, alongside deck concrete pours and stripping. Architectural works continue for the southern platform slab. Elsewhere in the tunnel, duct banks progress and structural shotcrete for the transition concludes.

Rideau Station west entrance
The arch formwork continues to be removed from the tunnel. Slab chipping and mechanical pipe relocation has begun this week and crews mobilize to work on the Rideau Cavern headwall connection.

Rideau Station east entrance
Hand chipping to connect the entrance with the station cavern concludes. The adit progresses as well with concourse slab waterproofing and rebar installation. Construction on the station’s walls and TVS suspended wall deck occurs.

East Portal
Final concrete pours for the invert and the arch conclude this week. Waterproofing the arch and insulation continues. Installation of the duct bank walls resumes.

uOttawa Station
The porcelain panel installation along Nicholas Street concluded and the pedestrian ramp and plaza have been opened. Crews continue to work on the windscreen posts, the elevator glazing framing, and the signband rough-ins. In coming weeks, crews will work on the fire pump installation as well as the snow melt platform.

East Stations

Lees Station
Crews are finishing the porcelain panel installations in the auxiliary building. They are nearly complete the ceiling framing work. Other work includes the pre-cast concrete stair installation and the forming of curbs for the windscreen posts. Work will also begin on the foundation for the exit stairs for the MUP at the northeast side of the station.

Hurdman Station
Crews will work on the landscaping (grading) as well as the bench and bike rack foundations. Inside the station, crews are waterproofing the platform, installing signband, and framing the wood ceilings. In addition, topping slabs will be poured during the first half of December, weather permitting.

Tremblay Station
Current work focuses on framing for the wood ceiling at the upper concourse level, measurement scanning for the ordering of glazing, and installation of the supports for the art work. Crews are also putting in place the mullions for the exterior glazing wall.

St-Laurent Station
Glazing work continues at the station. Other work includes installation of the fans and silencers in the plenum area. Platform toppings are complete. Electrical work continues.

Cyrville Station
Current scheduled works include the framing for the wood ceiling. Outside, demobilization and landscaping work takes place.

Blair Station
Crews will be paving the entrance to the TPSS and they continue to make progress on the bus loop. Inside the station, wood ceiling framing will be completed soon, followed by installation of the wood itself which will take approximately six weeks.

Guideway and Trackwork

Trackwork teams are focused on progress at the East Portal, the West Portal, around Parliament Station and up to Rideau Station. In the west, crews are tamping a west-bound section of track near Pimisi Station while rail installation is currently taking place at Tunney’s Pasture. Train testing is ongoing on the eastern stretch of the alignment.

In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:

  • Backfilling at the East Portal.
  • Waterproofing and backfilling at Parliament East entrance.
  • Systems installation along the guideway, including OCS poles and wires.
  • Station elevators and escalators installed at multiple stations.
  • Concrete shaft work at Rideau Station west TVS.
  • Finishing the paving work at the Hurdman bus loop.
  • Completing the bus loop at Blair Station.
  • Finishing layer of shotcrete for Rideau Station transition.
  • Rideau Station cavern headwall connection to Rideau Station west entrance
