This notice is to advise that, as part of the O-Train Confederation Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) Project, crews will be required to undertake overnight work to reconstruct the ramp going into the downtown tunnel at the east portal entrance.
WHAT: Work will include excavation and grading, concrete barrier relocation and replacements, and asphalt removals.
WHERE: The East Portal is located adjacent to the University of Ottawa at Nicholas Street and Laurier Avenue.
WHEN: Work is anticipated to begin the week of September 18th and continue until December 2016. Work will take place between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Please note that the night work will not necessarily be ongoing every night, as there will be a break between excavation layers. An overnight noise exemption has been approved.
WHY: Due to the high volumes of Nicholas Street traffic during the day, it is not deemed safe or feasible to be running a number of trucks in and out of the job site during daytime hours.
RESIDENTIAL & BUSINESS IMPACTS
- Work will involve the use of trucks, an excavator and drill. Noise levels for all work are expected to be moderate to high.
- All efforts will be made to reduce noise impacts as much as possible.
