Construction of Hurdman Station, a critical transfer point on the O-Train Confederation Line, continues to progress as crews mobilize to begin installation of structural steel. Further east, construction of the permanent bus loop has gotten underway at Blair Station, a key component to allow residents to transfer from bus rapid transit to light rail when revenue service begins in 2018.
Bayview Station: Work on the ancillary building is ongoing; crews drill and pour caissons. Crews begin duct bank installation. Ground improvement activities and sewer work also occur.
Pimisi Station: The station walls and platform continue to take shape; activities include waterproofing, rebar installation and concrete pours. Crews also backfill, install duct banks and continue mechanical and electrical work.
West Portal: Preparation for future guideway work continues on the ramp.
Lyon Station cavern: Crews continue work on the station’s concourse level; activities include rebar installation, formwork and pouring concrete. Shotcrete final lining in the east transition and arch final lining pours are ongoing.
Lyon Station west entrance: The station entrance continues to take shape; crews install rebar, formwork and pour concrete for the station walls and stairs.
Lyon Station east entrance: Crews continue work on the station concourse level; activities include rebar installation and concrete pours for station walls. At the east vent shaft, crews continue rock removals and install reinforcements.
Parliament Station cavern: Work on station L-walls is ongoing; activities include rebar installation and concrete pours. Waterproofing of the station arch occurs.
Parliament Station west entrance: Crews work on the station stairs and structural steel installation is finalized at the station entrance. At the east vent shaft, crews continue hoe ramming and rock removals over the weekend.
Parliament Station east entrance: Crews continue installing structural steel and removing the foundation wall. At street level, rock removals and line drilling are ongoing in anticipation of future blasting activities.
Rideau Station cavern: Crews waterproof, install rebar and pour concrete for station L-walls.
Rideau Station east entrance: The station walls continue to take shape as crews install rebar, formwork and pour concrete.
East Portal: Crews continue ramp excavation and install whaler beams as part of reinforcement work during the day and overnight in preparation for future guideway work.
uOttawa Station: The station continues to take shape; crews install rebar, formwork and pour concrete for the suspended slab. As part of the next phase of construction, crews begin excavating for station footings.
Lees Station: Work continues on the station raft slab; activities include rebar installation and concrete pours. Crews begin sewer installation.
Hurdman Station: At the station, crews continue pouring the concourse floor slab, finalize masonry for the block wall and mobilize to begin structural steel installation. Work continues at the bus operator’s building including electrical and roof installations.
Tremblay Station: The station construction continues to progress; crews pour concrete and install structural steel and the roof metal deck. Work on the station canopy occurs.
St-Laurent Station: Crews work on the hydro room and begin preparations to install the station escalators. Electrical work and trackwork are ongoing in the station.
Cyrville Station: Crews install rebar, formwork and complete concrete pours as the station concourse level and stairs take shape. Work on the parapets and the station roof is ongoing. Electrical work occurs at the auxiliary building.
Blair Station: Construction of the station continues to advance; crews work on the station roof, soffit and continue mechanical and electrical works as well as landscaping activities. Permanent bus loop construction begins.
Tunnel Excavation and Support
Mining of the running tunnel is ongoing and crews install reinforcements.
Tunney’s Pasture Station to West Portal: Guideway and trackwork activities continue; crews install fencing and the Overhead Catenary System foundations during the day and overnight. Flash butt welding and pulling rail also occur in sections.
Mann Avenue Bridge to Tremblay Station: Guideway construction continues in sections; crews install duct banks, fencing and ballast. Between Rideau River Transitway Bridge and Tremblay Station, crews continue trackwork activities, including ballast installation, pulling rail and welding.
Belfast Yard to Blair Station: Systems and cabling installation are ongoing
Bayview Bridge: Reconstruction of the Bayview Bridge is ongoing; crews continue excavation and work on parapets and the transition slab.
Mann Avenue Bridge: Crews complete caisson installation, work on the bridge abutments and pier caps, and mobilize by the end of the week to begin installing girders overnight.
Upcoming Construction Activities
In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:
- Tunney’s Pasture Station work requiring right turn lane restriction.
- Delivery of Traction Power Sub Station (TPSS) on the guideway near Tunney’s Pasture Station.
- Blasting at Parliament Station east entrance.
- Structural steel installation at uOttawa Station.
- uOttawa Station concrete pours requiring intermittent closures of the pedestrian tunnel.
- Mann Avenue Bridge work and overnight lane closures.
- Vehicle testing and Overhead Catenary System will be energized in phases along the guideway between Belfast Yard and Blair Station.
- TPSS installations along the alignment.
