At Tunney’s Pasture Station, crews demolish existing structures as they make way for a new light rail transit station. At Blair Station – the O-Train Confederation Line’s easternmost station and future transit hub – construction is advancing as crews install the station’s exterior wall panels.
Tunney’s Pasture Station: Crews demolish existing structures.
Bayview Station: Crews finalize caisson installation and prepare to begin ground improvement activities. During construction activities currently underway, and for the safety of all Bayview pathway users, short-term closures are required. Flaggers are onsite to assist users.
Pimisi Station: Preliminary station work is ongoing; crews install duct banks along with formwork and rebar.
West Portal: Crocodile Rouge continues excavating the ramp at West Portal.
Lyon Station cavern: Crews work on the station concourse; activities include rebar installation and concrete pours. Station arch final lining pours are ongoing.
Lyon Station west entrance: Work on the station walls and mudslab is ongoing; crews install rebar and pour concrete.
Lyon Station east entrance: Crews install rebar and pour concrete for the station elevator and walls. Rock drilling occurs at the east vent shaft.
Parliament Station cavern: The station continues to take shape with formwork installation and concrete pours for the L-walls. Mechanical and electrical work also continues.
Parliament Station west entrance: Crews install rebar and pour concrete for the station roof. At street level, excavation and reinforcements occur and crews install reinforcements at the east vent shaft.
Parliament Station east entrance: Construction of the steel head house is finalized and crews install rebar and pour concrete for station stairs. At street level, crews remove sidewalks, excavate and install reinforcements.
Rideau Station cavern: Crews work on walls, install rebar and waterproof the station arch and invert.
Rideau Station west entrance: Crews install rebar and formwork in anticipation of upcoming concrete pours.
Rideau Station east entrance: Crews waterproof, install rebar and dowels as part of work on the station walls.
East Portal: Piling activities continue and crews mobilize to begin excavating.
uOttawa Station: Crews install rebar, steel beams and work on station walls. Work on the concrete slab continues to facilitate the reopening of the pedestrian tunnel for August 22.
Lees Station: Crews continue installing duct banks, excavate for utilities and mobilize to work on the methane membrane.
Hurdman Station: At the station, crews continue working on the concourse slab and stripping grade beams. At the bus operators’ building, crews begin installing structural steel and continue electrical work.
Tremblay Station: Station work continues and includes structural steel installation, concrete pours, electrical work and masonry.
St-Laurent Station: Grading, masonry and work on the electrical room are ongoing. Trackwork continues in the station.
Cyrville Station: Crews work on the station roof as well as the parapets. Crews also install formwork for the concourse level and construct the stairs leading to the platform.
Blair Station: The station continues to progress as crews work on the roof, finalize structural steel and install exterior wall panels. Crews construct the station block wall this week; an alternative route is available to pedestrians. Final landscaping work also occurs as crews mobilize at the end of the week to begin utility, curb and sidewalk construction.
Tunnel Excavation and Support
Excavation and installation of reinforcements are ongoing in the running tunnel west of Rideau Station.
Tunney’s Pasture Station to West Portal: Work continues along the guideway in anticipation of future trackwork; activities include grading and excavation for the traction power substation.
Mann Avenue Bridge to west of Lees Station: Crews continue installing OCS foundations.
Rideau River Transitway Bridge to Blair Station: Trackwork activities begin in sections west of Tremblay Station. Systems installation, final tamping and welding occurs from just east of Tremblay Station to Blair Station in anticipation of vehicle testing in the coming weeks.
CPR Bridge near Bayview Station: Crews finalize caisson installation and continue work on bridge piers. During construction activities currently underway, and for the safety of all Bayview pathway users, short-term closures are required. Flaggers are onsite to assist users.
Booth Street: Final works occur on Booth Street in anticipation of its reopening as early as September.
Mann Avenue Bridge: Reconstruction of the Mann Avenue Bridge commences; crews mobilize to begin installing caissons.
Upcoming Construction Activities
In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:
- Line drilling and blasting at Parliament Station east entrance.
- Deck work at Tremblay Station.
- Watermain work near St-Laurent Station, along the guideway.
- Vehicle testing along the guideway between Belfast Yard and Tremblay Station.
- Traction power substation installations along the alignment.
