Construction Update

Construction is ongoing throughout the alignment. In the west segment, landscaping and platform works are the focus. The central segment focus is on architectural finishes including tiling, glazing, and ceiling installations. In the east, station features such as signage, fare gates and tactile way finding strips are being installed.

Construction advances at Bayview Station

West Stations

Tunney’s Pasture Station 
Topping slabs for the concourse and the eastbound and westbound platforms continue. End of platform glazing is scheduled. In the bus loop, the new bus operator building, bus supervisor office, and maintenance building are under construction.

Bayview Station 
Composite panels are going in on the north and south roof. Platform toppings are underway and work on the concourse toppings is anticipated. Crews are also painting steel including structural steel and mullions. Progress is also seen on the plaza stairs.

Pimisi Station
​Crews are installing glass and utility cabinets. Landscaping is continuing and digital signband installations are underway. Toppings are complete on the platform.

Progress of construction at Rideau Station

Central Stations

Lyon Station 
This week, the fire alarm system, light fixtures, and fare gate barriers continue to be installed and tested. Crews continue to work on the station’s elevators to ready them for service.  Architectural finishes such as tiling, glazing and ceiling panel installations advance.

Parliament Station 
Visible progress is made at the station, crews put up light fixtures and install the ceiling gird. Concrete works are ongoing and HVAC rough-ins progress. Moreover, crews continue to work on the station’s elevators and escalators to make them operational.
Hydrovacing will occur intermittently during day time hours over the summer months to clean surface areas and underground lines in the tunnel.

Parliament Station west entrance
At the concourse level, wall grouting and tile installation take place. Additionally, the sprinkler system and wood ceiling panels are installed at the grade level entry way. At the west tunnel ventilation system (TVS), the final concrete pours occur. Waterproofing, backfilling, and shoring removal will follow next week once concrete pours are complete.

Parliament Station east entrance
Canopy glazing is ongoing this week. At the retail concourse level, concrete works, ceiling framing, and final mechanical and electrical works continue.

Entrance lantern installation at uOttawa Station

Rideau Station 
The HVAC room progresses this week with rebar and concrete pours. Elsewhere throughout the station, mechanical and electrical installations are ongoing. At the east adit, conduit is installed and the site is measured for aluminum panels.
Hydrovacing from street surface will occur intermittently during day time hours over the summer months to clean surface areas and underground lines in the tunnel.

Rideau Station west entrance
Mechanical and electrical installations are ongoing throughout. Other works include elevator installations, escalator testing, door painting, and installation of exterior glass and siding. At the stair landings, ceiling panels, tiles, and railings are going in.

Rideau Station east entrance 
Continuing this week are the installations of elevators, escalators, and exterior glass and siding. At the stair landings, ceiling panels and tiling progress. The escalator control room is being prepared.

uOttawa Station
Fare gates, utility cabinets, and entrance lanterns are undergoing installation. Tactile wayfinding indicator strips are going in. The work to install custom windscreen panels at the concourse and platform areas is also anticipated next week.

East Stations

Lees Station
Elevator shroud installations continue, while sandblasting gets underway. Utility cabinet installations are ongoing. All types of glass installation are underway.

Hurdman Station
The wood ceiling installation progresses on the platform. Other work focuses on the utility cabinets and the entrance lantern. Landscaping activities continue. Furnishings such as metal benches are scheduled to go in.

Tremblay Station
There is ongoing work on the utility cabinets. South elevator cladding is scheduled. The bus shelters are also anticipated. Progress is also made on the occupancy signage.

St-Laurent Station
Tactile wayfinding indicator strips are being installed on the platform. Occupancy signage is going up, while metal and concrete benches are being installed. There is also ongoing tiling work at the elevators.

Cyrville Station
Fare gates are installed and are being prepared for service. Mechanical and electrical finishes in the roof remain including lighting. Crews will also work on the remaining digital signband. The bike racks have been installed.

Blair Station
Utility cabinets and platform doors are being finished. Fare gate equipment and fare gate glazing will be installed. Entrance lanterns will be underway. Occupancy signage is being installed.

Guideway and Testing

In the eastern segment, there is currently train testing including Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) maturity tests. Testing and commissioning (T&C) activities will progress to eventually include regular train testing in both the tunnel and the western segments. Assembly of LRV34 continues​

Upcoming Construction Activities

In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:

  • Select Rideau work-zones to be removed or reduced in phases throughout the summer.
  • Completion of stairs at the S-MUP at uOttawa Station.
  • Skylight glazing installation at Tunney’s Pasture Station.
  • Rideau Station west TVS grate installation.
  • Parliament Station west TVS grate installation.
