Construction Update

This week on the Confederation Line, there is ongoing work to finalize topping slabs on the concourse and platform areas at Tunney’s Pasture, Bayview and Pimisi Stations. In the east, crews continue to finalize utility cabinets, digital signband, wood ceilings, and fare-gate areas. Additionally, landscaping and public art installations are ongoing throughout the entire alignment.

West Stations

Tunney’s Pasture Station 
Topping slabs for the concourse and the eastbound and westbound platforms continue. Fare gate installation is coming. The end of platform glazing is scheduled. In the bus loop, the new bus operator building, bus supervisor office, and maintenance building are under construction.

Bayview Station 
Crew are currently working on the topping slabs for the eastbound and westbound platforms and the concourse area (O-Train track extension). Electrical rough-ins for the entrance lantern will be underway. Work on the east entrance continues.

Pimisi Station
​Crews are scheduled to work on the north entrance canopy ceiling. There is ongoing work to finalize the east and west upper concourse areas. Installation of composite panels in the lower concourse is expected to conclude in the coming weeks. The Booth Street Bridge bike lane construction is in progress with off peak lane restrictions

Central Stations

Lyon Station 
Architectural works ramp-up and include ceiling panel installations at both the concourse and platform levels as well as wall and floor tiling.  Mechanical works are ongoing with systems testing and the installation of light fixtures and fire alarm system. Additionally, the elevators continue to be worked on.

Parliament Station 
At the concourse level, floor tiling continues, concrete works occur, and rough-ins are installed in the switchgear room. Moreover, crews continue to work on the station’s elevators and escalators to make them operational.

Sprinklers, doors, and signage framing are being installed at the west entrance. At the concourse level, wall tiling and grouting progresses. At the west tunnel ventilation shaft (TVS), waterproofing, backfilling and formwork installation commence in preparation for the final concrete pour.

Canopy glazing and sprinkler installations take place in the head house.  At the concourse level, concrete works, ceiling framing, and final mechanical and electrical works continue.
At the east TVS, hydrovacing will occur intermittently during day time hours over the summer months to clean surface areas and underground lines in the tunnel.

Rideau Station 
Mechanical and electrical works are ongoing throughout the station, and preparatory work for the digital signband installation at platform level commences. The east concourse area continues to be measured for aluminum panels. Elevator and escalator installations progress as well.
Hydrovacing will occur intermittently during day time hours over the summer months to clean surface areas and underground lines in the tunnel.

Rideau Station west entrance
Construction of the stair enclosure and scaffolding wraps up in preparation for concrete works, and ceiling installation. At the concourse level, tiling occurs. At the west TVS, waterproofing and backfilling take place. Crews begin to clean-up, complete final grading, and prepare for watermain reinstatement work.

Continuing this week are the installations of elevators, escalators, and exterior glass and siding. At the stair landings, ceiling panels and tiling progress. The escalator control room is being prepared.

Contact grouting occurs in the Rideau Station transition.

uOttawa Station
​There is work on the eastbound and westbound concrete platform topping slabs. Fare gates, utility cabinets, and entrance lanterns are undergoing installation. Continued landscaping work is scheduled and includes furnishings such as bike racks.

East Stations

Lees Station
Work continues to finalize the concourse surface inside the main entrance. Digital signband and utility cabinets are being installed at the platform areas. The westbound platform topping slab is being finalized.

Hurdman Station
Composite panels are scheduled to go in on the concourse. The installation of tall glass panels is nearly completed. Crews install the wood ceiling at the platform. The fare vending machines are now in place.

Tremblay Station
Fare gate installation continues this month and utility cabinets will be going in. South elevator cladding is scheduled. The bus shelters are also anticipated.

St-Laurent Station
The fare gates and entrance lanterns are in place, and utility cabinets are being finalized. The elevator waterproofing work is complete with all of the hoarding and signage removed. Station doors are being finalized.

Cyrville Station
Installation of the wood ceiling is complete. Mechanical and electrical finishes in the roof remain including lighting. Crews will also work on the remaining digital signband installations along the platform area. Occupancy signage is coming.

Blair Station
Utility cabinets and platform doors are being finished. Fare gate equipment and fare gate glazing will be installed in the coming weeks. Entrance lantern and occupancy signage installations arealso underway.

Guideway and Trackwork

As of June 25, all the mainline tracks (except a section of Segment 2) come under direct supervision and coordination of Testing and Commissioning (T&C). In the eastern segment, there is currently train testing including CBTC maturity tests. T&C activities will progress to eventually include regular train-testing in both the tunnel and the western segments. Assembly of LRV34 continues.

Upcoming Construction Activities

In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:

  • Select Rideau work-zones to be removed or reduced in phases throughout the summer.
  • Digital signband, light-band, fare gates and entrance lanterns are being installed.
  • Completion of stairs at the S-MUP at uOttawa Station.
  • Skylight glazing installation at Tunney’s Pasture Station.
  • Rideau Station west TVS grate installation.
  • Parliament Station west TVS grate installation.
