This week on the Confederation Line, crews are busy installing trackwork throughout the tunnel and working on architectural finishes in Lyon and Parliament Station. Bayview and Hurdman Station make notable advancements with continued porcelain panel installations, and over at uOttawa Station, rebar for the entrance ramp is installed.
Tunney’s Pasture Station
The bus loop progresses with construction of the bus operator, maintenance and supervisor buildings. The ceiling framing at the platform is ongoing and rail is installed along the guideway through the station.
Porcelain panels for the stairways continue to be installed, and lower concourse ceiling framing is underway. In addition, mechanical and electrical works are ongoing.
The crews are busy installing steel at the north and south lower concourse entrance canopies. Other work focuses on conduit infrastructure for communications. Fascia and soffit are being installed on the eastern side of the station.
Construction is ongoing at the station and includes installation of heat tracing, TVS axial fans, and communication system wiring at the platform level. Crews continue to work on the elevators. Architectural work includes tiling and glazing installations.
Escalator materials are delivered and installation continues throughout the station. Mechanical and electrical rough-in installations take place, the stairways are progressing, and trackwork continues throughout the station.
Parliament Station west entrance
The roof slab has been stripped and duct bank reinstatement and waterproofing continue this week. Structural shotcrete for the adit and the final layer of shotcrete occurs at the west transition.
Parliament Station east entrance
Escalator assembly continues and shotcrete beam chipping occurs at the east TVS.
The final layer of shotcrete continues throughout the transition. In addition, the headwall and west entrance formwork are stripped and rebar, chipping and formwork are underway at the north side platform slab.
Rideau Station west entrance
Slab chipping and relocation of mechanical pipes concludes this week. The West TVS continues to progress with slab waterproofing and rebar installation.
Rideau Station east entrance
This week, structural steel is installed for the head house and the lower side walls are formed for the adit. Architectural works are ongoing and include intumescent painting, preparation for tile application, and ongoing electrical and mechanical installations.
Concrete backfilling and conduit installations continue this week. Soil backfilling will occur in the spring.
At both the concourse and platform level, composite metal panel (CMP) framing takes place. Crews are working on the snow melt and fire alarm system; installation of mullions; and elevator framing. Work on the rebar for the stairs and entrance ramp is also progressing.
Work continues with reinforcing steel, formwork and concrete pours for the staircase. In addition, the suspended ceiling frame is being installed across the tracks and under the concourse.
The current work includes CMP and porcelain panel installation, and framing for both CMP and wood ceiling. Crews are also focused on the electrical rough-ins, pulling wiring for communications, and installing camera and sign brackets on the platform.
Crews are installing glass and shroud frames at the south elevator tower. They are putting in handrail posts at stairs and continue working on the artwork supports. Installation of the fourth of four station elevators begins.
Crews are putting in porcelain panels at the platform level and scaffolding at the stairs in the plenum area. Installation of the entrance lantern structure is also underway.
The current work focuses on ceiling framing, completing the architectural envelope for the elevator, and installation of mullions.
Testing and commissioning of mechanical and electrical equipment is ongoing. In addition, installation of the signband, and finishing the stainless steel elevator architectural panels occurs.
Guideway and Trackwork
At the downtown section of the alignment, crews are focused on completing track slabs between Parliament Station and Rideau Station, and dowel installation occurs between Lyon Station and the West Portal. In the West, activities include rail installation at Tunney’s Pasture. Train testing continues on the eastern stretch of the alignment.
