This week on the Confederation Line, crews are busy installing trackwork throughout the tunnel and working on architectural finishes in Lyon and Parliament Station. Bayview and Hurdman Station make notable advancements with continued porcelain panel installations, and over at uOttawa Station, rebar for the entrance ramp is installed.
Tunney’s Pasture Station
The bus loop progresses with construction of the bus operator, maintenance and supervisor buildings. The ceiling framing at the platform is ongoing and rail is installed along the guideway through the station.
Porcelain panels for the stairways continue to be installed, and lower concourse ceiling framing is underway. In addition, mechanical and electrical works are ongoing. In the coming weeks, the station is expected to have permanent power.
The crews are busy installing steel on the lower concourse and continuing the wood ceiling framing. Other work focuses on the power conduits for the signband. In the coming weeks, fascia and soffit will be installed on the eastern side of the station.
Architectural work ramps up this week. Some of the current activities include:;; installations of stair glazing, wall panels, and floor tiles. Electrical installations occur for the station’s communications systems, and work on the elevators continues.
Mechanical and electrical rough-in installations take place throughout entire station. The stairways are progressing, masonry walls are being installed, and work continues on the station’s communications room.
Parliament Station west entrance
Duct bank reinstatement waterproofing occurs this week. Falsework for the stair and escalator slabs takes place, with rebar installation beginning next week.
Parliament Station east entrance
Escalator assembly and conduit installations advance at the east entrance.
The headwall progresses with formwork installation and concrete pours for the upper half of the headwall occurring at the end of the week. Concrete stripping is ongoing for the concourse slabs, and rebar, formwork, and conduit installations continue for the platform slab.
Rideau Station west entrance
Removal of the tunnel arch formwork concludes next week. Formwork for the west entrance headwall continues, and slab chipping and relocation of mechanical pipes is ongoing.
Rideau Station east entrance
This week, rebar for the arch is installed and mechanical and electrical installations continue throughout the entire station. Architectural work progresses as well, and includes tiling preparation, painting and ceiling finishes. The final lining of shotcrete at the east transition continues.
Concrete backfilling and work on the duct bank walls continues this week. Soil backfilling will occur in the spring.
At both the concourse and platform level, composite metal panel (CMP) framing takes place. Other work includes, snow melt and fire alarm system installations, while upcoming work will involve the installation of rebar for the stairs and entrance ramp.
Work continues with reinforcing steel, formwork and concrete pours for the staircase. In addition, the suspended ceiling framing is being installed across the tracks and under the concourse.
The current work includes porcelain panel installation below two of the stairways, as well as CMP framing. Crews are also focused on the electrical rough-ins, the communications equipment rough-ins, windscreen installation, and elevator installation.
Elevator work is ongoing, this includes crews installing glass and shroud frames at the north elevator tower. Other work focuses on putting in steel and handrail posts at the stairs.
Crews are busy with mechanical, electrical and fireproofing installations throughout the station. The glazing for the mullions is now on site and ready to be installed and the platform level porcelain panels continue to be installed.
The current work focuses on ceiling framing, completion of the architectural envelope for the elevator, and installation of mullions.
Testing and commissioning of mechanical and electrical equipment is ongoing. In addition, installation of the signband, and finishing the stainless steel elevator architectural panels occurs as well.
Guideway and Trackwork
At the downtown section of the alignment, crews are focused on completing track slabs between Parliament Station and Rideau Station, and dowel installation occurs between Lyon Station and the West Portal. In the West, activities include rail installation at Tunney’s Pasture. Train testing continues on the eastern stretch of the alignment.
