At Parliament Station west entrance, the south wall advances with crews installing rebar and formwork, while at Rideau Station, the east adit is making steady progress, including concourse slab waterproofing and rebar installation. In the west, at Bayview Station, the current work focuses on framing the ceiling in the lower concourse area and porcelain panel installation in the upper and lower auxillary buildings.
Tunney’s Pasture Station
Crews will be installing ceiling panels on the concourse. Other activities will focus on the heat pump and the escalators. Mechanical and electrical works are ongoing.
Crews are completing stairposts, electrical work and the signband. They continue to frame the ceiling in the lower concourse area. Weather permitting, they will be doing concrete work in the plaza, including stairs and ramps.
Stairway posts and the mullions for the glass walls are being completed. Crews are also installing power conduits for the signband. Crews continue to frame soffits at the platform level and will perform that same work at the upper west concourse and the north canopy in coming weeks.
The remaining glass for the elevators are installed and tiling at the west entrance mid-landing commences. Also occurring this week, are installations of fare gate posts, wall and ceiling panels and service room light fixtures. Crews begin to form and pour the platform walkways.
Queen Street Streetscaping
Crews are demobilizing for the winter and will resume streetscaping activities in the spring.
This week inside the station, crews continue to work on the stairs. In addition, plumbing work advances and the first stage of mechanical and electrical rough-ins are ongoing. Elsewhere, shotcrete continues at the west transition.
Parliament Station west entrance
Noticeable progress is made on the station’s walls. Crews continue with formwork and rebar installations so concrete pours can take place next week. Falsework for the roof slab will also be installed next week.
Parliament Station east entrance
Construction activities are wrapping up at the east entrance, which will allow needed ancillary works to occur. O’Connor Street lane restrictions are to remain in place for these works.
Concrete formwork stripping begins for the concourse slabs and concrete backfilling occurs for the conduit banks. At the headwall, rebar for the upper half of the wall is installed and so is formwork for the west entrance. At the transition, the finishing layer of shotcrete concrete progresses.
Rideau Station west entrance
Formwork is installed for the station headwall inside the tunnel. The remaining arch falsework is removed and relocation of mechanical pipes occurs next week.
Rideau Station east entrance
Hand chipping wraps up this week. Other work includes ongoing electrical, mechanical and escalator control unit installations. Painting occurs and the adit concourse slab will be poured at the end of the week.
Ongoing activities include waterproofing the arch and duct bank installation.
Windscreen post installation, elevator glazing framing, and signband rough-ins are among the current activities at the station. Composite metal panel framing is continuing. Crews will also be working on the excavation and foundation for the stairs at the main entrance connected to the new S-MUP.
Crews will be working on platform toppings and landscaping, weather permitting. They will also be completing the ceiling framing.
Weather permitting, crews will continue to install handrail posts and to complete installation of the elevators. Outside, at the bus loop, crews will be completing lighting work.
Current work focuses on framing for the wood ceiling at the upper concourse level and preparations for glazing.
In the plenum area, insulated metal panels are being installed, along with fans and silencers and other equipment. Glazing is ongoing and mechanical and electrical rough-ins continue.
Current work focuses on ceiling framing, completion of the elevator envelope, and installation of mullions.
Wood ceiling framing is ongoing, in advance of the wood ceiling installation. Crews are also installing the stainless steel elevator architectural panels. Testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment is ongoing.
Guideway and Trackwork
Trackwork teams are focused on completing trackwork at the East Portal, the West Portal, around Parliament Station and up to Rideau Station. In the West, crews are tamping a west-bound section of track near Pimisi Station while rail installation is currently taking place at Tunney’s Pasture. Train testing is ongoing on the eastern stretch of the alignment.
Upcoming Construction Activities
In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:
- Pimisi Station soffit work with temporary closures on eastern sidewalk of Booth Street Bridge.
- Adit breakthrough at Rideau Station mid-entrance.
- Bus operator building, maintenance building and supervisor building at Tunney’s Pasture Station to begin construction around January 2018.
- The start of wood ceiling installation in the eastern stations (early 2018 expected).
- Completing finishing work on the Rideau Station West HVAC shaft.
- Formwork for the front of the Rideau Station headwall.
