Construction Update

Full speed ahead at uOttawa Station, where crews are completing the pedestrian plaza and will install porcelain panels along Nicholas Street over the next three weeks. At Pimisi Station, there is ongoing electrical and mechanical work, as well as installation of porcelain panels in the lower concourse.This is also a busy period for remaining tunnel works. At the East Portal, crews mobilize for final waterproofing, rebar installation and invert pours. In the transition arch south of Rideau Station, the remaining work includes completion of duct bank conduits and the concrete infill.

West Stations

Tunney’s Pasture Station 
Current activities include masonry work at the platform level as well as mechanical and electrical work. Crews are also busy waterproofing the roof deck and completing installation of windscreen posts. Sections of inter-track barrier and plinths for the track within the station are also being installed.

Bayview Station 
Crews form the plaza and curbs, work to complete elevator installations, and continue framing both in the upper and lower concourse area. The electrical and mechanical rough-ins continue as well. Landscaping continues to progress on the north and east sides of the station.

Pimisi Station
Crews are completing stairway posts and the mullions for the glass walls. Other work includes installation of mechanical equipment as well as the voltage switch at the lower concourse level. Installation of porcelain panels proceeds in the lower concourse. The station’s five elevators are also being installed.

Central Stations

Lyon Station cavern
Architectural work is ongoing and includes wall panel installation, tiling at the east and west entrances and light fixture installations. The TVS fans are delivered and installed this week, conduit is installed at the west entrance ceiling, and crews work on elevators as well as form and pour curbs at the stair openings.

Streetscaping continues on the south side of Queen Street between Bay and Lyon streets.

Lyon Station east TVS
This week, backfilling concludes at the east TVS at which point the site will be turned over to Streetscaping.

Parliament Station cavern 
Work on the stairs is progressing along with rough-ins for the mezzanine, and arch rebar for the west TVS adit. Mechanical duct work is delivered this week and shotcrete activities continue for the west transition.

Construction is ongoing and includes formwork and concrete pours for the south wall and escalator assembly. At the integrated station entrance, the first layer of intumescent paint is sprayed.

Parliament Station east entrance 
The remaining waterproofing for the adit connection concludes and final backfilling and whaler removal occurs. At the integrated entrance, work on the concrete structure continues and crews install the winter enclosure.

Rideau Station cavern
Concourse slab plumbing and conduit installation advances alongside deck formwork. Elsewhere in the tunnel, shotcrete continues for the transition and concrete pours takes place for the east duct banks.

Rideau Station west entrance
Below ground, the arch formwork continues to be removed from the tunnel and upcoming work includes slab chipping and mechanical pipe relocation. Excavation continues on Rideau Street for the west TVS.

Rideau Station east entrance
Excavation continues with hoe-ramming and hand chipping to connect the entrance with the station cavern. Crews are also preparing to waterproof and build a temporary divider wall between the cavern and entrance. In addition, ongoing electrical work and conduit installations progress.

East Portal
Inside the tunnel, concrete pours and waterproofing continue for the arch, and the invert progresses with waterproofing and rebar installation.

uOttawa Station
The porcelain panels along Nicholas Street will be installed over three weeks, starting end-of-November. Crews will also be working on the pedestrian plaza and stairs at the entrance to the station. Other work focuses on concourse lighting, the windscreen posts and the measurements for glazing.

East Stations

Lees Station
Crews will be at work forming the stair walls and stair foundation for the MUP which enters the northeast side of the station. They’ll also be installing the interlock pavers at the main entrance to the station. At the platform level, framing and installation of porcelain panels continues. Other work includes electrical rough-ins under the concourse area and completion of the signband rough-ins at the platform level.

Hurdman Station
Crews are completing the handrail posts for two of the stairways, as well as escalator framing. Snowmelt cables as well as the mullions for the glass walls are being installed in the station. Also continuing are the escalator installations.

Tremblay Station
Installation of composite panels and snowmelts are ongoing. Other works include installation of mullions for the exterior glazing wall and framing for the wood ceiling. The supports for the artwork are also onsite for installation.

St-Laurent Station
Current activities include placement of insulated panels. Silencers for the large fans in the tunnel ventilation system are on site for installation. Platform toppings are now complete. Electrical work will be continuing through November.

Cyrville Station
Final grading is concluding and other scheduled works include completion of the topping platform. Outside, demobilization and landscaping work will take place soon and the wood ceiling mockup is complete.

Blair Station
The wood ceiling framing has begun. Landscaping is taking place north of the station. Notable progress has been made on the north side of the bus loop and the bus operator building. In addition, testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment is ongoing.

Guideway and Trackwork

Crews prepare to install track through Parliament Station and continue working on the track tie-in to the West Portal. In the West, crews are tamping a west-bound section of track near Pimisi Station while rail installation is currently taking place at Tunney’s Pasture. Train testing is ongoing on the eastern stretch of the alignment.

  • Systems installation along the guideway, including OCS poles and wires

  •  Concrete shaft work at Rideau Station west TVS
  • Finishing the paving work at the Hurdman bus loop
  • Completing the bus loop at Blair Station
