Construction Update

In the underground stations, architectural work such as tiling, painting, and light installation is ongoing at Lyon Station while at Rideau, excavation continues for the TVS at the intersection of Rideau and William Streets. In the West, at Pimisi Station, crews are completing stairway posts and mullions for the glass walls, and in the East, testing and commissioning of the mechanical equipment at Blair Station continues.

West Stations

Tunney’s Pasture Station 
Current activities include masonry work at the platform level as well as mechanical and electrical work. Crews are also busy waterproofing the roof deck and completing installation of windscreen posts. Sections of inter-track barrier and plinths for the track within the station are also being installed.

Bayview Station 
At Bayview, crews form the plaza and curbs, work to complete elevator installations, and continue framing both in the upper and lower concourse area. The electrical and mechanical rough-ins continue as well. Landscaping continues to progress on the north and east sides of the station

Pimisi Station
Crews are completing stairway posts and the mullions for the glass walls. Other work includes installation of mechanical equipment as well as the voltage switch at the lower concourse level. Installation of porcelain panels proceeds in the lower concourse. The station’s five elevators are also being readied for service.

Central Stations

Lyon Station cavern
Crews continue to work on the HVAC system, while pouring the floor topping for the HVAC room. Architectural work such as tiling, painting, and light installation is ongoing. In addition, plumbing installations, electrical conduit and masonry activities are all in progress as well.

Lyon Station west TVS
Work is now complete with grate installation to occur at the end of December. This area has been turned over for streetscaping.

Lyon Station east TVS
Nears completion with final waterproofing, pipe reinstatement and backfilling. The TVS grate will be placed over the shaft next week.

Parliament Station cavern 
Work on the stairs is progressing along with rough-ins for the mezzanine, and arch rebar for the west TVS adit. Mechanical duct work is delivered this week and shotcrete activities continue for the west transition.

At the integrated entrance, roofing continues as does escalator assembly and stair slab pours. Below ground, the formwork continues for the north wall and concrete pours take place for both the north and south walls.

The tunnel adit is cured, stripped and cleaned this week and the remaining waterproofing for the adit connection occurs. Rebar is installed for the stair walls; concrete pours will occur at the end of the week. At the integrated entrance, work on the concrete structure continues.

Rideau Station cavern
Concourse slab formwork stripping advances alongside architectural work on top of the slab. In the tunnel, shotcrete continues for the transition, rebar is installed for the invert and conduit installation takes place for the east duct banks.

Below ground, the arch formwork continues to be removed from the tunnel and upcoming work includes slab chipping and mechanical pipe relocation. Excavation continues for the TVS shaft.

The TVS adit walls have been stripped and hoe-ramming and hand chipping will begin this week, continuing into the following weeks. Electrical work such as conduit installations and work on the TPSS systems proceeds, and so does insulating the utility rooms.

East Portal
Inside the tunnel, concrete pours and waterproofing continue for the arch. The headwall and mechanical room roofs are poured and backfilling occurs.

uOttawa Station
The porcelain panels along Nicholas will be installed over three weeks beginning at the end of November. Crews are also working on installing the windscreen posts and completing the measurements for glazing in the station. The new ramp for pedestrians will also open in the coming weeks.

East Stations

Lees Station
Crews will be at work installing windscreen bases and posts in addition to pavers and lighting. Framing and installation of the porcelain panels takes place at the platform level. Other work includes electrical rough-ins under the concourse area and completion of the signband rough-ins at the platform level.

Hurdman Station
Crews are working to put in the snowmelt cables as well as the mullions for the glass walls in the station. Installation of handrail posts is ongoing and so are elevator and escalator installations.

Tremblay Station
Installation of composite panels and snowmelts are ongoing. Other current works include installation of mullions for the exterior glazing wall and framing for the wood ceiling. The supports for the artwork are also onsite for installation.

St-Laurent Station
Current activities include placement of insulated panels. Silencers for the large fans in the tunnel ventilation system are on site for installation. Platform toppings are completed. Electrical work will be continuing through November.

Cyrville Station
Final grading is concluding. Other scheduled works include completion of the topping platform. Outside, demobilization and landscaping work will take place soon. Wood ceiling mockup is complete.

Blair Station
The wood ceiling framing has begun. Landscaping is taking place north of the station. Progress on the north side of the bus loop and the bus operator building progresses. Testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment is ongoing.

Guideway and Trackwork

Segment 2 activities are focused on trackwork at Parliament Station and on the track installation tie-in to the West Portal. At uOttawa Station, destressing continues on the west-bound ballasted track. In the West, the track teams are tamping a west-bound section of track near Pimisi Station while rail installation is currently taking place at Tunney’s Pasture.
