At Blair Station, landscaping will take place soon, in the area just north of the station. Similarly, just outside Cyrville Station, trailer demobilization and landscaping work will take place soon. In the tunnel stations, work inside Lyon has resumed with the close of Kontinuum. In the west, steel arrives for installation at Tunney Pasture Station.
Tunney’s Pasture Station
Steel arrives for installation this week. Meanwhile, crews are completing the curb at the grade-level concourse and completing the sprinkler system, waterline, and heat tracing. Final topping of the escalator pit is also among the activities scheduled.
Escalator installation is in progress. Platform roofing is ongoing for the next few weeks. Crews are also applying intumescent paint to station columns and completing the mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
Crews are completing steel finishing on the east side of Booth Street. The lower-concourse porcelain panels are being installed, and crews continue to apply intumescent coating. Meanwhile, the electrical and mechanical equipment installation continues.
Lyon Station cavern
Demobilization of the Kontinuum event takes place over the course of the week, in addition to floor topping pours for the platform TVS areas and installation of plumbing and permanent lighting.
Lyon Station west entrance
Work inside the station resumes as Kontinuum concludes. Site clean-up is now complete and crews continue streetscaping, paving and landscaping along Lyon Street. The installation of elevator rails and mechanical, electrical and plumbing work starts up as well.
Lyon Station east entrance
Installation of the escalators starts up, concrete works advance for the east TVS and the mezzanine curbs are poured.
Parliament Station cavern
This week, rebar has been delivered and is ready for installation so concrete pours can progress at the stairways. The first stage of electrical and fire protection rough-ins continues into this week and crews complete the upper mezzanine masonry walls.
Parliament Station west entrance
Construction activities this week include work on the duct banks and rebar, forming and pouring the stair slabs. In addition, rebar for the north and south walls begins at the end of the week, continuing into next.
Parliament Station east entrance
The adit continues to take shape with wall rebar installation and wall panel construction. Alongside adit construction, rebar installation occurs for the suspended slab with forming and pouring taking place at the end of the week.
Rideau Station cavern
Headwall chipping is complete down in the cavern. Formwork installation and stripping occurs for the concourse slabs and utility relocation and site clean-up occurs in preparation for the invert slab and waterproofing. Arch rebar and concrete pours are ongoing.
Rideau Station west entrance
Crews continue to assemble the tunnel arch formwork and work over the course of the week to finish installing it. Arch pours begin at the end of the week.
Rideau Station east entrance
Continuing this week is the installation of escalators, and HVAC, electrical and mechanical installations throughout the east entrance. Installation of structural steel for the head house progresses and so does the adit arch waterproofing.
Construction activities this week entail progress on the starter walls for the cut and cover tunnel section, wall rebar installation and waterproofing in the fan niches. Also ongoing, is the installation of the arch formwork and moving it into position for upcoming concrete pours.
At the concourse level, work is proceeding on the duct, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Crews are also finalizing the roof to achieve a water-tight condition. The installation of ballast and track continues, while the curved plaza ramp excavation has begun.
Current work includes the UPS installation (uninterrupted power supply) and windscreen bases that will be installed at the concourse level this week. Crews are also completing the electrical, HVAC, and plumbing work in the ancillary building. On the concourse and platform, steel and concrete crews will also be finalizing the retaining wall.
Fireproofing and intumescent painting continues to progress. Finally, crews are at work completing the waterproofing on the roof.
Skylight framing and installation is in progress. Glazing has started as well. Pulling wires, equipment installs and lighting are continuing through September. Elevators are also nearing completion.
Platform pours are ongoing and there is ongoing work on the tunnel ventilation shaft. The set-up of TPSS 7 is taking place as well. Other scheduled work includes the mechanical and electrical work in the plenum area of the station.
Final grading begins this week and is expect to take place through September. Other scheduled works includes completion of the topping platform. Outside the station, trailer demobilization and landscaping work will take place soon.
Landscaping will take place soon, in the area just north of the station. Crews will also be at work completing the new bus loop. Inside the station, on one of the main stairways, the work on the boxes and fixtures for the lighting is scheduled to conclude this week.
Guideway and Trackwork
In the east, Overhead Catenary System (OCS) wires have been strung between Lees and uOttawa Station and trackwork through uOttawa Station is now complete. In the downtown segment of the alignment, crews are continuing to install plinths in the u-trench and have started assembling diamond crossover at Parliament Station. Tamping is now complete between Bayview and Pimisi Station.
Upcoming Construction Activities
In the coming weeks, the following construction activities are scheduled to occur:
- Weekend closure of Rideau Street from Sussex to Dalhousie for Enbridge work (including hydrovaccing) and removal of temporary supports at pedestrian overpass at Rideau Centre. This activity has the potential to generate overnight noise.
- Construction at Parliament Station including hydrovaccing work.
- Cranes, concrete trucks, and steel erection along western section of the guideway.
- Ongoing East Portal works including rebar and concrete work.
- Track work along the western parts of the alignment.
- Station and guideway construction around the University of Ottawa.
- Ongoing overnight work at the Rideau Station west and east entrances.
Systems installation along the guideway, including OCS poles and wires.
